July 15th 2003 in the evening
I once used the term “Pyrrhic victory” in a presentation when I was in graduate school and someone stopped me to ask what it meant. I struggled to recount the tale of Pyrrhus’ assaults on Italy and Sicily and his supposedly saying “Another such victory and I shall be ruined,” but I fell short and had to settle for a dull dictionary style definition. Well, if there is anyone out there who is still confused, this man’s acquittal will definitely be a Pyrrhic victory.

Should one do a Pyrrhic dance after winning a Pyrrhic victory? or after successfully explaining what a Pyrrhic victory is?

99 bottles... all I can say is that I've been battling the bottle lately, but not due to your blogness.

Life is an odd sort of thing that rises and falls much like the tide. At times, there's no seeing anything better, and other times show just how little we truly know about ourselves and our times. I'm unfortunately caught up in the latter of the two, and therefore pay homage to the great god of the bottle on a more frequent basis. BTW, you all are still invited to have a few on the back patio on a random Friday or Saturday night.

And, no, you cannot hook up SpamAssassin to your blog, but you cannot screen out spam from people you have put on your "friends" list either... :-)
