An Epic Stupidity

I finally had the misfortune of seeing Troy last night. There’s $14 and two and a half hours that could have been better spent getting absurdly drunk. Either way, I would have suffered the same nausea. Now before I continue into a rant about dim witted, senseless deviations from the classic story, let me say that I usually defend Hollywood’s right to take reasonable liberties with classic storylines.

What David Benioff did with Troy was beyond reasonable; it was idiotic. Hector kills Menelaus to prevent his killing Paris? Hector kills Ajax? Agamemnon killed by Briseis? And at no time in the war apparently did a god intervene. Mere details? Hardly.
